Lowell
ratchet clutches are designed from standard bodies, gears, pawls, and springs. Forces are
applied in an optimum between the solid steei gear and hefty pawl so that loads are in
compression rather than in standard shear. Gears are a low carbon steel. Rugged tooth
design has large contact area with pawl.

- Keyways are per ASA B 17.1
- Lubrication is recommended after every 1200 hours of operation
- Specials may be ordered with size, shape, and tooth arrangements of your choice
- Body sizes from 2-7/8 x 2-3/8 to 10-7/8 x 8-3/8
- Gear opening sizes 3/8 to 4-5/8 inches, 10 - 120 mm
- Free running neutral available on request


Roller
Clutches
The simple construction of the Roller
Clutch results in an easy-to-produce one-way clutch device that saves money for the user
or OEM. Overrunning clutches are also known as free-wheeling or one-way clutches. In these
roller-ramp clutches, engagement occurs with a wedging of the rollers between the inner
cam and the outer housing. Torque capacity is nomially limited only by the contact
stresses between the parts. Standard keyways are per ASA B17. 1. Call for sizes and
